Ilya Fedotov-Fyodorov has been selected by the International Jury to become the ISCP resident in March-May 2022.
Mikhail Tolmachev, another recipient of the Award, will come to the residency in Spring 2023.
As a sign of solidarity, we decided to give an additional Residency Award this year to a Ukrainian artist Pavel Grazhdanskiy. His 3-month residency starts on April 1st, 2022.

The AES+F Artist Residency Award was created to give an opportunity to artists from the Russian Federation, who are at a pivotal stage of their careers, to become immersed in the New York art world as a resident of ISCP and to join the international alumni network of the prestigious residency program. Due to their own experience, AES+F understand the importance of international connections for career development and see the tragic lack of opportunities for Russian artists, as well as their underrepresentation in the United States especially. At present, it is difficult for Russian artists to participate in cultural exchange programs in the United States, including important international residencies like ISCP. AES+F want to improve Russian artists’ representation abroad, to emphasize the importance of the mission they undertake to support a new generation of Russian artists, and with this initiative hope to encourage other institutions and individuals to start programs of their own. At the moment of its announcement, the AES+F Artist Residency Award will be the only grant of its kind in Russia, and the first one to be organized by Russian artists.
The awarded grant will provide:
– a residency at ISCP in New York for 3 months, from April 1 until June 30, 2022.
– housing for 3 months provided by AES+F
– round-trip airfare to and from New York
– one-on-one mentoring by AES+F during the residency
– organizational and administrative support from Russian-speaking fellow Anna Evtiugina
The ISCP program includes:
– 24/7 access to a spacious, private, and furnished studio in East Williamsburg
– monthly studio visits from curators and arts professionals
– participation in the ISCP Open Studio program
– invitation to attend ISCP regular public programs and private social events
– field trips to museums, galleries, and other cultural venues (twice a month)
The ISCP resident will also have access to a number of opportunities, such as:
– opportunity to have a public talk during ‘Artists at Work’ presentations
– opportunity to participate in alumni events in the future
– opportunity to make proposals for exhibitions at the ISCP gallery and project space
Nominees will be selected by the International Jury in November 2021.
The award is for Russian visual artists under 40 years old, living in Russia (Russian citizens), working in any media, with basic proficiency in the English language. The selection process will be performed in two stages:
1. Short list – the expert committee will anonymously nominate up to 25 artists.
2. Award recipient – the recipient will be selected by an international jury that consists of Joseph Kosuth (artist, New York and London), AES+F (artist collective, Berlin, New York, and Moscow), Josh Siegel (curator, Film department, MoMA, New York), Susan Hapgood (director, ISCP, New York), Ksenia Nouril (Jensen Bryan curator, The Print Center, Philadelphia), and Ksenia M. Soboleva (art historian and writer, 2020-2021 Marica and Jan Vilcek Curatorial Fellow at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York).
The recipient of the award will be announced in December 2021.

AES+F
First formed as AES Group in 1987 by Tatiana Arzamasova, Lev Evzovich, and Evgeny Svyatsky, the collective became AES+F when Vladimir Fridkes joined in 1995. The collective works in installation, photography, video, sculpture, and other media. Грант AES+F Artist Residency Award был создан чтобы дать возможность художникам из Российской Федерации, находящимся на ключевом этапе своей карьеры, погрузиться в мир искусства Нью-Йорка в качестве резидента ISCP и присоединиться к международной сети выпускников этой престижной программы. Благодаря своему богатому международному опыту, AES+F понимают важность международных связей для развития художественной карьеры, а также видят сложившуюся ситуацию с ограниченностью доступа к международным возможностям у многих молодых российских художников. AES+F осознают важность взятой на себя миссии поддержать новое поколение российских художников. Грант AES+F станет единственным грантом такого рода в стране, и первым, который организован российскими художниками.
Грант предоставляет победителю конкурса:
– участие в программе арт-резиденции ISCP в Нью-Йорке c 1 апреля до 31 июня 2022,
– место для проживания в Нью Йорке в течение 3-х месяцев,
– авиаперелет из России в Нью Йорк и обратно,
– менторскую поддержку AES+F в период нахождения в арт-резиденции,
– административную и организационную поддержку от Анны Евтюгиной.
Программа арт-резиденции ISCP включает:
– предоставление студии с доступом 24/7,
– встречи с известными международными кураторами и арт-профессионалами,
– участие в artist talk, участие в программе “открытых студий”,
– участие в международных мероприятиях для выпускников ISCP.
Кроме того, участник получит доступ к ряду потенциальных возможностей:
– участие в курируемой групповой выставке в галерее ISCP,
– реализации собственных проектов за пределами арт-резиденции.
Номинантами на Грант могут стать российские художники в возрасте до 40 лет, проживающие в России (обладатели гражданства РФ), работающие в любом медиуме. Процесс выбора победителя конкурса на получение Гранта будет происходить в два этапа:
1-й этап Шорт-лист номинантов – экспертный совет отберет анонимно до 25 художников-номинантов
2-й этап Победитель конкурса на получение Гранта – победителя будет выбирать международное жюри. Российская арт-группа AES+F работает в жанре инсталляции, фотографии, видео, скульптуры и др. Группа существует с 1987 года, ее название было образовано по инициалам основателей — Татьяны Арзамасовой, Льва Евзовича и Евгения Святского.
